A Brief Discussion on the New RSS Feed Reader Follow

Follow is a new and innovative RSS reader#

Follow not only has all the features of an RSS reader but also includes additional functionalities.

follow1

Firstly, Follow adds RSSHub resources#

The role of RSSHub is to help generate RSS subscription links for resources that do not provide RSS subscription connections. For example, Luo Lei's blog does not have an RSS subscription link, but after processing with RSSHub, its subscription link becomes rsshub://luolei.

follow2

Secondly, Follow is based on blockchain technology, Web 3.0, and other technologies#

The benefit this brings to Follow is that the resources of each Follow account are controllable and advocate for rights, although the current rights are in the form of Power points. For instance, your own blog can be authenticated in Follow with just a few lines of code. (After authentication, you can gain 100 points of Power, and 100 points can generate an invitation code.) Perhaps in the future, these points could be exchanged for virtual currency or USDT, which is not impossible.

Thirdly, Follow inherits the features of Xlog, enabling AI to empower Follow#

This is particularly evident when you subscribe to resources through Follow; after Follow fetches and updates the content of the subscribed resources, it will generate content summaries through AI.

Fourthly, currently, the Follow reader is open-source and free#

At present, the Follow reader is free, although it is still in the internal testing phase. Once the features are perfected, software and apps supporting various platforms will be launched, and usage will be opened up without the need for an invitation code. Additionally, being open-source is part of its lineage. Its development may resemble that of the new blogging platform Xlog. If you have a good workflow, Follow will become a powerful tool for you. For example, Jiuyi's method is to subscribe to movie resources via RSS, download them through a downloader, and sync them to your Alist or cloud storage using synchronization software, allowing for smooth viewing.

Fifthly, it provides daily hot content, discovers friends' subscription sources, gives likes to friends to earn points, and more#

In summary, Follow is undoubtedly a new generation of blockchain-based, AI-powered RSS subscriptions with many uses, worthy of everyone to own, try, and use.

The story behind the Follow reader#

The Follow reader is developed by the open-source giant Diygod#

In fact, I have been following Diygod for a long time, including his time in China, later studying in the UK, and now living and settling in Singapore. Initially, he developed the Xlog blogging platform. At that time, I did not follow up for two reasons. Firstly, the concepts promoted by Xlog, such as blockchain and cryptocurrency, intimidated those who did not understand these concepts; secondly, the name "Diygod" seemed arrogant and unappealing. Thus, I did not follow up when Xlog was first released. However, after gradually understanding blockchain technology and the principles of Xlog, I realized that although Xlog uses blockchain technology and cryptocurrency mechanisms, it does not require users to pay fees. After seeing many beautiful, highly customizable, and multilingual blogs from Xloggers, I was also tempted (my Xlog blog URL is https://www.igdux.com). As for Diygod's name, I took it as a casual choice without any arrogance; moreover, changing a name on the internet involves too much, so this misunderstanding faded away.

Besides Diygod, the Follow developers also include Eleven and Hyoban#

It is reported that Eleven currently lives in Shanghai and is a very shy and sincere person, as well as a technical expert. His blog is https://innei.in. Of course, the Follow developers also include mobile platform developers like Hyoban and others. Since I am not very familiar with them, I won't elaborate further. In summary, introducing the developers is to clarify that Follow has open-source genes, and the developer Diygod advocates for long-termism, hoping to create products that can grow sustainably and healthily. I believe he is wholeheartedly building Follow and will adhere to his consistent open-source and long-term approach, striving to make Follow a quality product on the internet.

Acknowledgments#

I would like to express my gratitude to Diygod for providing me with nearly 10 Follow invitation codes. I used one for myself and gave the others to friends in the Gengdu group. My invitation code also generated four more invitation codes, and after receiving the invitation codes, my friends generously shared them, allowing everyone to try the Follow reader as soon as possible and grow together with Follow. I hope Follow can continuously improve its features while maintaining the functionality of an RSS reader and become another quality product.

Note: Currently, registration for Follow requires a Google account or GitHub account, and since it is in the internal testing phase, activation requires an invitation code. Perhaps soon, after the features on various platforms are perfected, it will be opened for public use without the need for an invitation code.

How to authenticate Follow#

Firstly, obtain the authentication code#

You subscribe to your own blog in Follow, then right-click on the subscription source in Follow and apply for Claim to obtain the authentication code, for example: This message is used to verify that this feed (feedId:55266395131052022) belongs to me (userId:55264851534905334). Join me in enjoying the next generation information browser https://follow.is.

Secondly, verify the authentication code#

On your blog, write an article, paste the authentication code, and publish it; then apply for Claim again in Follow to authenticate. After authentication, the information of the authentication code can be deleted; this can be modified or retained here for reference by other readers during authentication. After authenticating in Follow, you can earn 100 points. Of course, you can also authenticate Follow through a Telegram channel. Refer to this message.
